Many water supplies contain Nitrates in the water from agricultural run off and other sources. Nitrates cause Methemoglobinemia a.k.a. blue baby syndrom. This is a serious condition in young infants and new born animals where the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood is reduced. Tannins are also a common contaminate, turning the water a slight tea color to a dark tea color depending on contamination levels. High levels of tannins in the water can cause problems if ingested due to the fact that they can disrupt the body's ability to digest certain nutrients. You have your choice of control heads, the basic Fleck 5600, the digital 5600SE that allows more control over the backwash cycle, or the High Flow Fleck 7000, the easiest control head to set up. They are all metered controls, which means your system will measure the amount of water it has treated and regenerate based on water use rather than time. This can add up to a lot of savings on salt and water costs when compared to common time-based control heads. All Fleck heads come with a 5-year warranty and the dependability that people associate with the Fleck name, providing you with a long lasting, high quality system. Our basic system is complete with resin tank, choice of control valve, square brine tank (17"x15"x33"), resin, and bypass valve. Installation instructions can be found here.
