What is UV?
UV is ultraviolet light, invisible light beyond the violet end of the light spectrum. A high-power for of UV light (called UV-C) is used in water treatment to disinfect water.

How does UV light work?
When water passes through the UV filter UV-C rays penetrate the microorganisms and make them unable to reproduce, thus rendering them harmless. This Trojan UV system will destroy a minimum of 99.99% of harmful microorganisms, including E. coli, Cryptosporidium, and Giardia.

Why use UV instead of chlorine?
Chlorine changes the taste and odor of the water. Also, chlorine can combine with other substances in your water to form harmful trihalomethanes, which are know to be carcinogenic. UV adds nothing to the water, so you can enjoy safe water without the taste or odor.
